It looks like LG is gearing up for CES 2014, which will be happening in early January, the company recently announced a new service called HomeChat that allows users to chat with their Smart Appliances via SMS or Line messaging app. Users will be able to communicate, control, monitor and share content with their LG home appliances using natural language so no learning curve is required. In addition to that, since both messaging options are accessible by almost all the mobile and even desktop platforms in the market, users will not need to get a new device to access the HomeChat – it works on Android, iPhone, Windows Phone, BlackBerry, Nokia Asha, Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X.
“Always at the forefront of innovation, LG is continually striving to inspire smarter consumer lifestyles in meaningful ways. We’re excited to be able to bring to CES our smart appliances with the newest communication and intelligence capabilities.” – Seong-jin Jo, President and CEO of LG Electronics Home Alliance Company.
Some examples of what LG HomeChat can do includes: send a message saying “I’m going on vacation” and all the connected smart appliances will be converted to vacation mode – the fridge will be on power-saving mode, robot vacuum will be scheduled to go to work everyday and the washing machine will only run a wash cycle on the day before your return.
