Remember when the Sony Lens-Style camera QX10 and QX100 were launched, they were impressive but lacks in so many ways, they received pretty mediocre reviews from major tech sites around the world? Well, guess what? Sony just released a firmware update to both lenses, giving them the update they deserve from day one. First up, both the QX10 and QX100 can now take pictures with a maximum ISO of 3,200 and 12,800 respectively, and have been given widescreen 1080p video recording. The QX100 also received an additional Shutter Priority mode when shooting, to help with action shots and long exposures.
Sony also updated its PlayMemories Mobile app for both Android and iOS. I remember mentioning in my review how the PlayMemories app lacks the ability to allow users to view back on the photos they have taken and it looks like Sony has fixed the flaw. The latest update brings a new quick photo browser to allow users to easily review their recent shots within the app. As for iOS users who lacks NFC to connect to the cameras simply by tapping, Sony says that the app should connect to the cameras twice as quickly as before.
So Sony QX10 and QX100 users, it’s time to give your beloved lens-style camera an update and do let us know how you’re liking it.
