In its bid to create more hybrid connected devices such as the Galaxy S4 Zoom smartphone, the Galaxy Camera and the Galaxy NX LTE-equipped mirrorless camera, Korean giants Samsung has merged both its Mobile Communications and Digital Imaging businesses globally. The move, which has been in effect since Friday, will see both businesses working closer than ever and attempt even more hybrid devices.
The primary reason behind the business reorganization, according to Samsung in a statement released to ET News, is to “integrate the technical know-how of the two business divisions into competency for differentiating our smartphones.” Given that mobile imaging has now become one of the key differentiating factors for consumers choosing a smartphone, the move could prove to be quite a masterstroke, particularly for a company that constantly touts as having the “next big thing”.
