Android 4.4 KitKat may have only been around for about a month or so but it looks like 1.1% of active Android devices out there are already running on this latest iteration of Google’s mobile operating system. The statics have just been published on Google’s latest OS dashboard for developers that breaks down everything to help developers know what level of the Android SDK to target with app releases.
That’s not the only version that is growing though, according to the latest stats from the dashboard, the number of devices running on Jelly Bean has been increasing rather rapidly too, up 54.5% compared to 52.1% last month. While majority of devices are still running on 4.1.x (37.4%), the biggest change this month is Android 4.3, up to 4.2% from 2.3%.
Still running on an older version of Android or just received Android 4.3? Don’t worry though, Android 4.4 update for some of the latest devices in the market should be on their way; Sony has confirmed that Android 4.4 for their latest devices will be released early next year, some HTC One should already have the latest update with Sense 5.5, and according to rumors, Samsung’s Android 4.4 update for the Galaxy S4 and Note III should arrive in January 2014. Find out more about the statistics over at Google.
