On the same day as the arrival of Waze on Windows Phone 8 (much to the rejoice of WP users throughout the world), the company have apparently made a visit to Malaysia. One of their reasons to be here in the country is to announce their new partnership with Astro Awani.
Thanks to the collaboration, Astro Awani have now become the third international broadcast partner for the popular navigation and mapping company which is also part of Google. By utilizing Waze’s community-based mapping technology, the channel are planning to deliver daily traffic updates throughout all Astro Awani’s platforms in early 2014.

Waze apparently have around 1.5 million users in Malaysia and more than 3,300 out of 110,000 map editors throughout the world that actively contributed to Waze’s Driver Generated Live Maps are actually Malaysians. With such a thriving Waze community here in Malaysia, Astro Awani have certainly got themselves a good real time traffic monitoring platform to help them deliver traffic updates to their viewers next year.
