So, the bomb has finally dropped yesterday when Sony Computer Entertainment have announced the pricing of PlayStation 4 in Malaysia. At RM 1799 for a basic set, the reaction doesn’t seem to be positive in general – judging just from the comments in our earlier post, live blog and Facebook page.
With that, some of you might wonder how does the Malaysian pricing of PS4 looks like as compared to other parts of the world. Well, here it is then:
In regions that are handled by SCEJA which include ours as well as Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Japan, it seems like Malaysian PS4 pricing is currently the highest in the region. However, do note that they also have yet to announce PS4 release plans for a number of countries under their wings such as Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Even though the PS4’s pricing for Malaysia might be closer to UK and Europe, ours is still far away from Brazil’s insane price tag. It still doesn’t change the fact that PS4’s price in Malaysia is quite pricey though which might lead local gamers to import their PS4 from Singapore since the console comes with regional warranty anyway. Losing PS4 sales numbers to their Singaporean counterparts (or other regions)…well, I don’t think that is something Sony Malaysia want to see, right?
