The highly anticipated iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C will make their way to the shelves very soon, in less than two days, our local telcos as well as Apple resellers will start offering the new iPhones and if you’ve been waiting for a midnight launch like past years then you’ll be in for a disappointment. We’ve heard from various sources that both Maxis and DiGi do not have plans for a midnight launch event for the phone but good news for Celcom users, Celcom has already sent out their invitation to launch the “highly anticipated smartphones on Halloween”, no prize if you guess correctly what these phones are.
Perhaps it’s because that Apple has a stock problem for the new iPhones (or at least the gold version), telcos can’t afford to have a big launch event. DiGi’s virtual queue is only for 250 people and it’s highly unlikely that DiGi will be having a midnight sales for the rest of the interested users. As for Celcom, the invite says that pre-registered users will be able to be one of the first in Malaysia to get the latest devices so you’d better register now if you wish to sign up for a Celcom First Voice and Data plan for the new iPhones. Things seem to be very quiet over at Maxis, which is strange considering how proactive they were for previous iPhone launch events.
That said, don’t be too disappointed though, while there may not be a midnight event, these telcos should have something up on 31 October 2013, even Apple Reseller, Switch, has announced that they will start their sales at 10am on 31 October 2013. Machines has also created a Facebook app that shows you the stock availability for the iPhone 5S in its various branches.
