While the rest of the world is sitting at the edge of their seats, patiently waiting for Google to announce the Android 4.4 Kit Kat, it looks like Samsung has rolled out a Android 4.3 update to its former flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S4. Like all normal software updates, it comes with improvements, bug fix, slightly better performance and most important of all, support for the Samsung Galaxy Gear, making it the second smartphone that can be used together with Samsung’s very own smartwatch.
Reported by Sammobile, the update has started rolling out in Germany and will gradually reach other countries by the end of the year. If you have been waiting for this update so you can finally have a reason to buy the Gear, do follow Sammobile as they have a list of when the update will be ready for which countries. Meanwhile, some of the new features Android 4.3 for Samsung Galaxy S4 includes:
- OpenGL 3.0 Support
- GALAXY GEAR Support
- TRIM Support (Makes the device much faster)
- ANT+ Support
- Samsung KNOX Implementation (KNOX bootloader and dedicated application)
- Samsung Wallet comes pre-loaded
- Improved RAM management
- Improved Display colour reproduction (Display looks much sharper than before)
- Improved TouchWiz Launcher (Much less launcher redraws and less lag)
- New Samsung Keyboard
- New Samsung Browser (Full screen by default, new tab interface and more)
- New Reading Mode (Optimises display for reading, used by only a few specific applications)
- New Camera firmware
- Minor UI tweaks (Contacts app, Flashlight Widget, dialog boxes etc)
