Alongside the new HTC One max, HTC has also announced the new Power Flip Case for the phablet, as well as compatibility to two other accessories for the HTC smartphone: the HTC BoomBass speaker cube, the HTC Fetch Bluetooth tag as well as the Mini+ phone for your phone.
Article continues after the jump.
The new Power Flip Case for the HTC One max is an interesting smartphone case. Within the flip cover portion of the Power Flip Case is a 1210mAh battery – 37% of the One max’s 3300mAh integrated battery – and connects to the One max via a three-pin connector located on the bottom right of the device, providing a total of 4500mAh of juice for the One max. Surprisingly, the Power Flip Case does not add much in terms of thickness of the device as a whole. We also like the black/red colour scheme for the Power Flip Case, too.
In addition, HTC’s new BoomBass speaker cube adds to the exceptional audio experience of the HTC One series. The speaker cube pairs to the One max via NFC, and connects via Bluetooth. At the product demonstration last week, we found that the BoomBass was in fact more of a compact subwoofer than mobile speaker: the BoomSound stereo speakers more than accomodated for the actual audio output, while the BoomBass added exceptional bass production. Oh, the BoomBass speaker cube also featured a sliding mechanism that allows the One max to be placed on it and double up as smartphone stand, too.
Also, the Fetch Bluetooth tag lets you locate your HTC device. It pairs with the One max, and allows for two-way location for both the One max or the Fetch, should any get lost. The highly portable design also means you can pocket it or attach it to a keychain or carabineer. On top of that, the HTC Fetch can also act as a camera shutter remote control for a paired HTC device.
Finally, there’s the Mini+ phone, HTC’s strange solution for a companion device. While other manufacturers opt for wearable devices such as smartwatches, HTC is introducing a mini phone for your phone. The Mini+ mini phone lets you make calls and check your calendar, messages as well as notifications for the paired HTC device. It can even act as a camera shutter remote control. What’s very interesting is the fact that while a call is made using the Mini+ phone, the paired HTC device is free to be used for other purposes, be it for games or media consumption. Speaking of which, the Mini+ also sports an IR blaster that you can pair with a TV as a remote control. On top of that, you can also pair the Mini+ to your computer as a Bluetooth headset for VoIP calls.
What’s more, you can even use the Mini+ as a companion for presentations both on the PC and a HTC device. Fire up a PowerPoint file either on Microsoft PowerPoint or Polaris Office, pair the Mini+ to either your PC or HTC device, and you’re good to go. You can even activate a laser pointer when the Mini+ is in Presentation mode!
Interestingly, the Mini+ and Fetch were actually announced back in September. Unfortunately, pricing details and availability for all the accessories above, including the Mini+ and Fetch, are yet to be confirmed.
