It’s been a long five years since Tag Heuer announced its premium mobile phone, the Tag Heuer Meridiist, and it looks like it’s about time the luxury watch maker come up with an update. The company recently announced the second generation Tag Heuer Meridiist that is thinner, lighter and more powerful than before.
But what makes this handset premium isn’t the specs, heck, it’s not even listed in its website, what makes the candy bar phone special is the premium materials that it is made out of, and the services it carries along with it. Crafted with 316L stainless steel, it features a 2.4” 103 CT Sapphire Crystal display at the front. Like some of the stuffs we’ve seen from Vertu, it also carries an exclusive concierge service, allowing you to score tickets to a sold-out show, book a table at a fancy restaurant and such at the press of a button, literally (there is a button designed into the phone that calls for a Tag Heuer representative when you press it).
And on to the boring stuffs, the specs; I believe if you have that amount of money to buy this phone, the specs will be the least you care about. Clearly catered for busy businessmen and women who are always traveling about, the new Meridiist features dual-SIM capability and dual-time GMT function with a second clock designed onto the top of the device. It has a 5MP rear camera, 8GB of internal storage and as its non-touchscreen candy bar design suggests, it’s not a smartphone but rather, a feature phone from Tag Heuer.
To be available in 10 different designs including an elegantly pink one, the second generation Meridiist retails for 3,900 euros (about RM16,800). Premium luxury phones anyone?
