One of the most important features in a smartphone will definitely have to be the camera, seeing how great the Sony Xperia Z1 and the Nokia Lumia 1020 are, it looks like Samsung too wants to produce better smartphone cameras for everybody. The company just announced a new 13MP camera module for smartphones that features OIS on board and the ability to capture better pictures under low lights conditions.
Touted as the “world’s highest-performing camera module”, the 13MP camera can correct angular errors up to 1.5 degrees off-target, that’s about double of what you can find in the market today – usually 0.7-degrees. On top of that, with a low illuminance, it can capture images that are eight times brighter than previous products from the company, and finally last but not least, the camera module also has lower power consumption.
Samsung said that mass production of the camera will only start in early 2014, and not just for the company’s very own smartphones, Samsung said that they will also work with other “leading smartphone maker”.
