Texting (or SMSing) is generally the cause of many traffic incidents. Because of this, the state of New York is introducing special places to stop and reply mail while driving. While they haven’t actually built new facilities, but are instead rebranding existing rest stops as texting stops. While the main goal is to create awareness, it’s a good idea for reminding drivers that they can afford to wait a short while before checking their phones.
New York Governor, Andrew Cuomo, also revealed that traffic summonses for distracted driving had increased by 300%. It almost makes Malaysians look like reasonable drivers. Almost.
