Few hours ago, Sony Computer Entertainment Japan have organized a special media event which includes announcements regarding several PlayStation products such as the slimmer PS Vita and the new PS Vita TV. At the event, the company have also confirmed the launch date of PlayStation 4 for the Japanese market which will take place on 22 February 2014.
While there was no announcement regarding PS4 release in other Asian region at today’s SCEJ media event, apparently there will be a separate press event by PlayStation Asia (a.k.a Sony Computer Entertainment Hong Kong) according to the Singapore-based gaming website, RobotsGoneBad. Said to be held at Tokyo Game Show next week, the agenda of the said press event is not yet known at the time being although many predicted that the event will be used by PlayStation Asia to unveil their PS4 plans for the region which includes Malaysia.
We have reached out to PlayStation Asia to obtain their comments on this news but regardless of that, we are looking forward to see what PlayStation Asia will reveal at its own TGS press conference next week.
