A new version of the PS Vita has been announced at a pre-TGS press event. The new handheld console is both lighter and thinner than its predecessor, while also having more colours to choose from (yellow is available). Interestingly enough, the selection doesn’t include the blue and red versions that are available for the previous Vita.
Other changes are switching the display to a more traditional 5-inch LCD, 1GB of built-in storage, and an extra hour of battery life. Sony will also be lowering the price of their proprietary memory cards in Japan, while also introducing a new 64GB version.
The new Vita will be released in Japan in October, with no word on when it will reach the rest of the world.
