The first expansion to the revival of the XCOM series will be reaching PC and Mac platforms as DLC, but this apparently won’t be the case for the console versions. A senior producer from the company was quoted as saying the expansion has too many changes to allow for a simple download. Before anyone begins to wonder how a digital download can be too big, this limitation is apparently more to do with Microsoft and Sony policies governing DLC for their consoles.
Console players will still be able to get the game through a re-release of the base game known as the Commander’s Edition. This re-release will include the new expansion along with the Slingshot and Elite Soldier add-ons. But yes, you will end up buying the game again.
XCOM: Enemy Within launches on 12 November
