Well, this is rather unexpected. Just hours ago, Nintendo have announced the latest addition to their everlasting handheld gaming system family in the form of Nintendo 2DS which will be out in United States this coming October.
According to company, the new Nintendo 2DS is an entry-level handheld gaming system which is compatible with all Nintendo 3DS titles but the system will play them only in 2D instead. Additionally, Nintendo 2DS also supports most Nintendo DS titles as well.
Furthermore, gone are the clamshell form factor that were previously used for Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo DS as the company opt to use the slate-type form factor instead for the new Nintendo 2DS. Nevertheless, Nintendo 2DS still features two displays setup which have the same size as Nintendo 3DS together with Wi-Fi connectivity.
While the new Nintendo 2DS is scheduled for release in United States on 12 October with a price tag of RM 434 (USD 129.99), the official distributor for Nintendo in Southeast Asia – Maxsoft – have yet to announce any release or pricing details for the new handheld system in Malaysia at the time being.
