Following in the footsteps of 2009’s genre-redefining game “Borderlands”, Gearbox Software and 2K Games has just announced a Game of the Year edition of its highly successful sequel, “Borderlands 2”. Featuring $100 worth of gameplay content, the GotY release packs in all previous DLC packs, as well as the two new character classes.
“Borderlands 2: Game of the Year Edition” bundles in the original game, as well as the full content from its “Borderlands 2: Season Pass” add-on containing the two new character classes (Mechromancer and Psycho) as well as three DLCs, as well as what Gearbox and 2K are calling the Premiere Club content. The full list of contents in “Borderlands 2: GotY Edition” is available after the jump.
– Borderlands 2 Main Game
– Captain Scarlett and her Pirate’s Booty
– Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage
– Sir Hammerlock’s Big Game Hunt
– Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep
– Creature Slaughter Dome
– Premiere Club Content:
Gaige, the Mechromancer Character Class
Gearbox Gun Pack
Golden Key
Vault Hunter’s Relic
– Krieg, the Psycho Character Class
– Collector’s Edition Heads and Skins
– Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 1
The game is set to be available in North America on October 8, and internationally from October 11 at a retail price of $59.99 (around RM200) for all supported platforms. Of course, there’s good news for those who already own the game, as the latest DLC for the game, “Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2: Digistruct Peak Challenge”, should keep you occupied with the increased level cap to 72 on top of the new area and set of missions. Digital Trends gives the low down with an exclusive first look of the DLC, which will be available September 3. The price, however, has not been revealed.
Finally, to welcome the addition of a new DLC to Pandora, Gearbox is giving Vault Hunters a treat. From now until the evening of September 2, the game’s loot system will be tweaked to increase rare shield drops. This has already been proven yesterday, as LYN’s fearless editor cum Vault Hunter farmed four legendary shields within a half hour span. The caveat, of course, is that players will have to be playing the game online (but not necessarily in a party) – but that should hardly be an issue. The more important question is, what will be revealed when you open that next chest in Pandora?
