At the risk of sounding hipster (or looking like one, ala Pang in the video), you will most probably have not heard of i-Mobile, and thanks to the state of the Android Phone market, neither will you. Back in the day, i-Mobile was put in the Lowyat.NET naughty books for putting out a frankly terrible phone in the form of the i693. In all honesty, many moons have past since then and we have not at all been keeping up with anything they have put out; Until now that is. The newest flagship model from the Thai mobile phone company, the i-Mobile IQ XA is one heck of a device, from the build to the interface (Stock Android with some sexy additions), the Dual-SIM support and the crazy 8MP front camera, everything about this screams mid-high end smartphone. Everything, except the price of course.
I could compare this to the Samsung Galaxy Grand, or to the ageing mid range Sony phones, but at RM988, the IQ XA is, much to all of our surprises, the best choice in the low-mid price point. It shows that maybe the Goliaths of the industry do have something to learn after all from minnows i-Mobile. If this is what the Thai manufacturers can come up with, colour me impressed. Watch on for our own “very serious” review of the i-Mobile IQ XA Smartphone.
