When AMD announced their brand new Radeon R9 200 graphics cards series few months ago, they have also announced the R9 290X Battlefield 4 Edition cards at the same time. Hence, we thought that such arrangement are limited to the high-end R9 290X/290 GPU but it seems like things now might have changed as GIGABYTE have recently unveiled a trio of non-R9 290 BF4 Edition cards.
Instead, these cards are equipped with R9 270, R9 270X and R9 280X GPUs. Out of the three cards, the R9 280X (GV-R928XOC-3GD-GA) and R9 270X (GV-R927XOC-2GD-GA) come standard with GIGABYTE’s own Windforce 3X triple-fan cooling setup while the R9 270 (GV-R927OC-2GD-GA) features Windforce 2X dual-fan setup.
In terms of specifications, the GPU on these cards run at a maximum speed of 1100MHz for the R9 280X and R9 270X, while the R9 270 is able to go up to 975MHz. Of course, each of the graphics cards above also comes with a game key that users can use to redeem for Battlefield 4 through EA’s Origin store which is why they are labelled as BF4 Edition in the first place.
GIGABYTE didn’t provide any release or pricing information for these new R9 200 series BF4 Edition graphics cards but since all of them have appeared on GIGABYTE Malaysia’s official website, it is very possible that these cards will be made available at local retails soon enough.
