Any lingering doubts about the existence of the Samsung smart watch – or, you know, the Galaxy Note III – can now well and truly be put to bed. Samsung Mobile’s executive vice president, Lee Young-hee, has confirmed that both the Galaxy Gear smartwatch and the Galaxy Note III smartphone will make their debuts at the company’s IFA event next week.
What’s also interesting to note was that the Galaxy Gear smartwatch, unlike previously rumoured, will not feature a flexible display. Lee revealed in an interview with the Korea Times that the Galaxy Gear will be a “wearable concept device” – whatever that is supposed to mean.
Regardless, it appears that in the smartwatch race, Samsung may have hit the finishing line faster than its American rivals Apple, who appear to be some way off from its vision of a smartwatch. But of course, the real question would definitely be who made the better smartwatch, and not who made them first (that would be you, Sony).
