Origin has announced a new refund policy that allows users to return games and get their money back. Yes, this extends to downloads where they will just revoke your game code. Refunds will only be given if a claim is submitted within 24 hours of the first time you launch the game, within 7 days from when you bought it, or within the first seven days after the game’s release if you pre-ordered.
There are a few more caveats to the whole thing, like the policy only applying to games bought through Origin and not other third party vendors. It also goes on to say that if you bought a game with a bundle you will have to return the whole bundle.
Calling it the Great Game Guarantee Refund Policy at least tells us that EA is trying to make themselves a little less hated and ensure that gamers get what they want. Earlier in the year there was a massive fiasco with the launch of Simcity, and EA gave away games to thousands of dissatisfied customers. It feels like they’ve learnt a lesson there and are preparing for the possibility another highly anticipated game bombs.
