Almost three months after it was first unveiled to the world back in May, the new Nike Hypervenom football boot has finally arrived in Southeast Asia last week. In conjunction with that, Nike held a grand regional launch event in Bangkok last week complete with the appearance of several FC Barcelona players who were in town for a friendly match with Thailand’s national team.
Present at the boot’s main unveiling ceremony was Barca’s latest signing, Neymar who is also one of the major athlete that wears Nike Hypervenom. Fellow teammates Adriano and Alexis Sanchez were also present alongside the Brazilian as they briefly demonstrated their skills and presented prizes to the talented young Thai players that won Nike Thailand’s League of Deadly football competition.

The folks at Nike Football actually brought together a number of prototypes such as these two which represent the various development stage of the new Hypervenom boot. Stay tuned for our video tour of these prototypes very soon.
This particular clean and blank white Nike T90 boot was said to be the very beginning of Nike Hypervenom journey by the man in the photo above – Aik Leong Lim, the Product Director of Nike Football. From there, it took Nike more than two years to finally come out with the actual boot which are influenced by feedbacks from top football players such as…
…FC Barcelona’s latest signing and Brazil’s attacker – Neymar – who briefly discussed his involvement during the development of Hypervenom at the event. While we didn’t get to interview Neymar, we did had a chat with Aik Leong Lim to learn more about the boot. So, stay tuned for our video interview with him very soon as well.
As mentioned earlier, a part of the launch event actually takes place outdoor where Nike held a mini football competition that they called League of Deadly.
Using a virtual stadium setup which utilizes interactive projection, motion detectors, and laser beams, the setup is said to be the first such implementation in the world. The competition in general also enabled eligible young Thai footballers to test out the new Nike Hypervenom while they compete in the event.
Neymar’s teammates, Adriano and Alexis Sanchez, were also there to join in the fun at the League of Deadly.
Obviously, tons of fans stopped by to check out these world-renowned football players in action including numerous Bangkok Mass Transit System (BTS) passengers at the adjacent BTS station.
Neymar, Alexis Sanchez and Adriano also put their skills on display by going through the League of Deadly’s virtual stadium setup.
The trio also presented the medals to all League of Deadly winners. The winners also received the opportunity to train with FC Barcelona’s coaching staff during the team’s evening training session that took place later in the day.
