Google Maps is possibly one of the internet’s greatest invention, I can’t live a day without referring to the online maps and now things has just gotten better with the latest Google Maps for Desktop update that comes with Waze live traffic updates, Mr. Pegman and more.
First up, if you’re already using the new Google Maps overhaul that features a brand new interface, say hello to Pegman once again. The new interface is bigger and better but one crucial thing that was missing was Pegman, the yellow icon that opened Street View instantly simply by dragging him to any place on the map. Instead, users had to first select a location and then access Street View via a completely redesigned menu on the top right corner. I guess Google finally figured that using Pegman would make a lot more sense, hence bringing back that yellow icon I’m sure a handful of you are missing, we’re getting Street View soon so Pegman is twice as useful to us Malaysian users now.
Another notable new feature would be the addition of Waze traffic into Google Maps for desktop. Putting its acquisition of Waze to good use, users can now quickly get more accurate traffic information including traffic incident reports, directly from their desktop. There’s also a new traffic feature that allows you to see Typical Traffic updates at any time of any day.

Another new update include a “bird’s eye view with Earth Tour” feature that pulls out 3D imagery of buildings and terrains for thousands of locations from above. Whenever Earth Tour is available, an icon will pop up and it will give you a virtual tour from a soaring angle.
