Mechwarrior Online has released a special edition mech to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society. This comes after one of their players, 5 year old Sarah Parries, passed away from brain cancer. The mech, known as Sarah’s Jenner, was chosen because it was her favourite chassis to run around and shoot at opponents with.
The special mech costs US$10 and all proceeds will go directly to the cancer society. In game, Sarah’s Jenner is stock JR7-D model that provides a 10% boost to experience points per match. It will not take up storage space in the mechbay and instead be kept in its own special bay.
It’s a nice gesture from the folks at Piranha Games and goes to show gamers do have a heart. At the time of writing this article over US$44,000 has already been donated. That’s a lot of Jenners running around.
