Last week and over the weekend must’ve been a terrible one for the folks at Apple, the Cupertino company recently announced that its Developer Center has been hacked since last Thursday and the service has been taken down since then.
Apple issued a note to frustrated developers, admitting that on Thursday, an intruder attempted to steal personal information from registered developers on the developer website. While personal information are encrypted and cannot be accessed, Apple noted that some developers’ names, mailing addresses and/or email addresses may have been accessed. The developer site is still down, Apple says that they are overhauling the developer system, updating the server software and rebuilding the entire database to ensure that it does not happen again.
Apple is currently informing developers who may have been affected, and while they’re at that, if you’re a registered Apple Developer, it doesn’t hurt to change your password just in case. Apple Developer Center is expected to be up soon though, the company provided no solid timeline.
