Finally, after being removed from the Apple App Store for over two years, VideoLAN’s VLC for iOS is now back for all you iPhone and iPad users to enjoy, bringing in a collection of new features along with it. The new version, VLC 2.0, supports all file formats like its desktop counterpart, and has additional features such as AirPlay, background audio, network streaming, support for Dropbox, and a few changes here and there for a better overall performance.
Just to recall, two years back, the original VLC for iOS app was pulled from the store due to some licensing issues. Since then, the team has been working hard with all major copyright holders to bring it back for iOS users again. It’s now back and better than before; according to the team behind the open-source player, it’s not just an enhanced version of VLC for iOS, it’s a full re-write. Download it now at the App Store.
