After appearing on SIRIM’s database earlier in April, Samsung Malaysia has announced that its latest addition to its NX camera range, the NX2000, is now available in the country. The new NX2000 Smart Camera is a compact and stylish interchangeable lens camera which will appeal to both the photography amateurs and enthusiasts alike.
Head on after the jump for more about the new NX2000 Smart Camera.
The new NX2000 is the latest in Samsung’s Smart Camera lineup. Featuring WiFi and even NFC connectivity, the NX2000 camera opens up a new avenue for sharing images instantly – as well as other creative uses. The Samsung SMART CAMERA app, available on both Android and iOS, allows NX2000 users to pair their Android smartphone or tablet to the camera, and automatically back up images and videos seamlessly to their Android devices. In addition, the paired device can also be used as a remote viewfinder, allowing for greater flexibility and creative applications. On top of that, the NX2000 can even be used to email images and videos, as well as offering a one-click sharing onto the user’s social networks. With the built-in NFC connectivity, Android smartphone or tablet users can pair with their NX2000 even more seamlessly by just tapping both devices. Interestingly, the NX2000 only supports microSD cards instead of full-sized SD cards, and can be charged its microUSB ports.
However, the NX2000 is first and foremost a camera; the smart connectivity options would not mean as much if the camera does not perform as well as it should. On paper, the NX2000 boasts a 20.3MP APS-C CMOS sensor – similar to that found in the NX300 and the recently-announced Galaxy NX interchangeable lens cameras – and powered by the DRIMe IV engine which works to reduce noise, improve speed and enable superior colour reproduction. The NX2000 is also capable of 8fps continuous shooting, a top shutter speed of 1/4000th second shutter speed, as well as an ISO range of 100-25600.
Interaction with the NX2000 is primarily done via the 3.7-inch WVGA full touch display, allowing users to quickly navigate between the four primary modes: Auto, Smart, Expert and Wi-Fi. Auto mode dynamically selects the most appropriate shooting mode, while Expert mode opens up an extensive range of image settings such as aperture, shutter speed, ISO and many others. Smart Mode allows users to choose from 14 scene modes similar to those found on other Samsung Smart Cameras and Galaxy devices.
In addition, Samsung also offers 13 interchangeable lenses that are compatible with the NX2000, while the other NX-compatible lenses can be used on the NX2000. Samsung even has a f1.8 2D/3D lens, allowing users to capture videos and still images in 3D, which can then be played on any compatible 3D HDTVs.
The NX2000, which weighs 228g without the 1130mAh battery pack, does not run on the Android platform. It also comes bundled with an external flash module as well as Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4 for the PC.
The Samsung NX2000 is available in three colours (Black, White and Pink), and is now available at all Samsung retail outlets and authorized dealers at RM2299 with a bundled 20-50mm kit lens and flash module. For more information about the Samsung NX2000, head on to Samsung USA’s website here.
