While much attention have been given to Nokia’s first 6-inch and full HD phablet – the Lumia 1520, it turns out that the company have also been working on another 6-inch device. Called the Lumia 1320, the device seems to be built around the idea of affordability. Hence, majority of its features are rather toned down from the bells and whistles that the top of the range Lumia 1520 has.
For example, the resolution for Lumia 1320’s 6-inch IPS display is much lower at 1280×720 and the device is running on a slower dual-core 1.7GHz Snapdragon 400 processor. Furthermore, the device is also equipped with a smaller RAM at 1GB and a tiny internal storage space of 8GB although one can slot in a microSD card with storage of up to 64GB to expand it.
Its 5-megapixels autofocus rear camera also doesn’t come with any of the famed PureView features but worry not as the camera still has a f2.4 lens, LED flash and full HD 30fps video recording capability. There is no Nokia Rich Recording technology in Lumia 1320 as well, despite having HAAC mic built into it. As for front facing camera, the job is handled by a 0.3-megapixels VGA sensor which can be used for video recording too albeit limited to the same VGA (640×480) resolution.
That being said, the Nokia Lumia 1320 is still equipped with couple of features that are also available on other higher-end Lumia devices such as ClearBlack display technology, high sensitivity settings, sunlight readability enhancements, and LTE connectivity. In fact, Lumia 1320’s display is covered by the newer Gorilla Glass 3 as opposed to the Gorilla Glass 2 that Nokia fitted into Lumia 1520.

In terms of design, the Lumia 1320 is slightly thicker and heavier than a Lumia 1520 at 9.8mm and 220g respectively. However, its edges are slightly more rounded and users are able to pop up its back cover that would reveal its non-removable 3400mAh battery together with micro SIM card and microSD card slots.
According to Nokia’s claims, the battery is able to provide up to 21 hours of 3G talk time and a maximum standby time of around 28 days to Lumia 1320. However, the device doesn’t come with the support for wireless charging though.
Being part of Nokia Lumia family of device, Lumia 1320 owners will be able to utilize tons of Nokia exclusive apps such as the newly released Nokia Camera, and the upcoming Nokia Storyteller. Of course, the usual Nokia’s signature apps such as HERE maps and locations services, Nokia Music, and plenty of others can be used on Lumia 1320.
The new Nokia Lumia 1320 is scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2014 initially in China and Vietnam before heading to other Asian markets as well as India and Europe. It will carry a retail price tag of USD 339 (RM 1070) once it is available in the market. To learn more, visit www.nokia.com.
