As we edge nearer to the eventual official release of Apple’s new iPhone 5s and 5c, more options from third-party sellers are popping up. Two Fridays ago we saw Groupon Malaysia offering the iPhone 5c, while Lazada Malaysia had both the 5c and 5s available – with both sites charging exceptionally higher retail prices compared to what they are retailing for in the US.
Earlier today, Groupon Malaysia has begun offering the other iPhone, the flagship 5s. The deals site is offering the 16GB Space Grey variant of the iPhone 5s for RM2898 – in comparison, the US retail prices for the same model is $649 (around RM2090).
On the other hand, it also appears that Lazada Malaysia has lowered its price for the iPhone 5c, which is now going for RM1999 for all five colours – RM200 cheaper than the original RM2199 price offered just two weeks back. However, the 64GB Champagne Gold edition has gone up; it is now retailing at RM4899 and is in stock.
That’s two of the local e-tailers. What about the others?
Article continues after the jump.
i-Pmart, another local Malaysian e-tailer, also has both the iPhone 5s and 5c available. All five colours of the 16GB iPhone 5c are offered at a retail price of RM1915, while the iPhone 5s prices vary based on the different colours available. The cheapest among the iPhone 5s is the Space Gray variant, with the 16GB model going for RM2849 – RM49 cheaper than the Groupon offer. Interestingly, most expensive model offered here is the 64GB Silver variant at RM3598 (RM149 more than the 64GB Space Gray variant) while there is no option for the rarer Champagne Gold edition.
Again, the warranty offered here isn’t the official one from Apple, but instead is iPmart Warranty – commonly known as AP Warranty, according to the site.
As for other local e-tailers such as Rakuten Malaysia and eBay Deals Malaysia, they are both mum on the new iPhones. Even Superbuy only sports a “Coming Soon” entry for both its iPhone 5c and 5s entries.
To make things easier, here’s a handy table if you’re looking for an iPhone 5s right now.
The iPhone 5c is a lot easier, with only two (active) offers available:
Alternatively, you could also browse our Garage Sales subforums for slightly better deals. You could nab the iPhone 5s for as low as RM2699. There are, naturally, some risks involved when buying from the LYN forums; so do check out our guide to buying from the Lowyat.NET forums before you grab that subjectively-cheap iPhone 5s!
Or, you know, you could wait an indeterminate amount of time between now and the end of the year when Apple finally bring them over here.
