Updated with Total Cost of Ownership, hit the break to see the updated table.
Wow it looks like the folks at Celcom have been working very hard for the launch of the new iPhones, they are the only telco who have sent out their invitation for a midnight launch event tonight and now, Celcom has unveiled their iPhone 5S and 5C plans in an Exclusive Invitation email. Celcom is offering the iPhone 5S and 5C with its Celcom First postpaid plans + mobile internet, from as low as RM98/month but unlike the previous year, Celcom is only bundling it with a minimum of 4GB of data. These might not be the only bundles Celcom will offer though, the telco is known to add more deals in after the launch date so do stay tuned if you’re hoping to get a more affordable plan but with LTE on board this time round, 4GB or 6GB of data makes a lot of sense.
The plans are available after the break, but we’ve broken everything down into the table above. Do note though the price still looks pretty expensive, especially for a monthly plan as expensive as RM238/month, but Celcom is also offering extra monthly rebates. We tried to decipher the rebates and came up with the figure below, but we can’t be sure how Celcom will be allocating the rebates on a monthly basis:
Do note that these are rebates that will be given to subscribers every month for the entire duration of the contract. At initial registration, you will have to pay the iPhone price before rebate and an upfront payment fee as shown in the screenshots after the break.
Celcom wrote in the invitation email that the breakdown of their iPhone 5S and 5C plans will go live at 5pm later this evening on their website at www.celcom.com.my.
Also, another thing notable is like Maxis, the official retail price of the new iPhones differ slightly from what was posted on Apple’s official online store for Malaysians.
