What happens when you create a tablet in a similar way to what the MacBook Air was to laptops? You get the new Apple iPad Air. It’s the lightest, full-sized tablet in the world, while retaining the outgoing iPad’s 9.7-inch Retina display. While very much looking like they enlarged the iPad Mini, the iPad air is thinner at an astounding 7.5mm thick and weighs in at just 1lb! Apple have also redesigned the face of the iPad by shrinking down the bezel to make it a lot more comfortable to hold and use.
Not forgetting about the internals, Apple have alluded to it all keynote and have put in the same 64bit A7 processor from the iPhone 5S into the new iPad Air. Tossing aside the cumulative charts that Apple love to use to illustrate how fast their devices are, the new iPad Air is definitely miles faster than its predecessor and a very logical upgrade for someone with an older device.
The new iPad Air will be out in the US and other Wave 1 and Wave 2 countries from November 1st and will retail at US$499 for the WiFi 16GB model and US$629 for the LTE Variant. No gold here but it will be available in Black And White. There is no confirmation on when Malaysia will be receiving their new iPads at the time of writing.
