In reference to last night’s incident, Google Malaysia have released this statement to media just moments ago:
“For a short period, some users visiting google.com.my were redirected to a different website; Google services for the google.com.my domain were not hacked. We’ve been in contact with the organization responsible for managing this domain name and the issue should be resolved.”
Furthermore, the agency that Google Malaysia have appointed to manage their domains – Integricity – have provided the timeline of the incident. While the settings have been restored to its original configuration, it seems like the incident is still far from over as MYNIC – the national administrator of .my domains – are now actively investigating the breach.
MYNIC themselves have released an official statement not long after Google Malaysia, right here.
