It looks like the Sony Xperia Z1 mini might be the real deal, Xperia Blog recently shared a leaked image showing a smaller Xperia Z1, called Xperia Z1 f, standing right next to its 5” sibling; the leaked image is said to be taken off a document for Japanese operator NTT DoCoMo. Judging by how most major phone companies have a “mini me” version of their flagship smartphone, it isn’t surprising that Sony will walk down the same path as well, but what makes things different this time round is the specs this mini Xperia Z1 will pack.
Unlike the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini and HTC One mini that packs not only a smaller display, but also less powerful hardware, all Sony has done to the Xperia Z1 mini is shrink down its size but manage to retain the same hardware that makes the Z1 so appealing to the market. Underneath that 4.3” 720 x 1280 display is the same 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 chipset, 16GB of internal storage, 2GB of RAM, 2,300mAh battery and most importantly, the same 20.7MP rear camera sensor coupled with a 2.2MP front camera. As with the recent lineup of Xperia Z series, the Z1 f will have IP55/IP58 dust and water resistance.
If it’s true, this would definitely be something to look forward to, especially for those of you who do not fancy large screen phones. According to the documentation, there will be two new colors as well – pink and yellow – on top of the usual black and white version. Sony Xperia Z1 vs Xperia Z1 f (mini), which would you pick?
