While most phone manufacturers are showing off their latest and greatest at the on-going IFA 2013 in Berlin, Germany, it looks like Xiaomi and Nvidia made some exciting announcements in an event in Beijing, China – the Xiaomi MiPhone 3 aka Mi3 that is powered by the latest Nvidia Tegra 4 processor.
Beneath the 5” Full HD display with 441ppi is a 1.8GHz Nvidia Tegra 4 processor (for China Mobile’s TD-SCDMA network) with 2GB of RAM and up to 64GB of internal storage. The back comes with a 13MP Sony camera with dual-LED flash, while the front is designed with a 2MP camera. It has a pretty generous 3,050mAh battery on board and with Tegra 4-PLUS-1 CPU on board, the device can last longer in a single charge thanks to the power efficiency of the chip.
The Tegra 4 variant is only compatible with one of China’s telco, Xiaomi Mi3 also ships with Snapdragon 800 chipset on board that is compatible with China Unicom’s WCDMA network and China Telecom’s CDMA2000 network.
We won’t be seeing the device in Malaysia anytime soon, but with Hugo Barra, the former VP of Google Android, joining Xiaomi to help the China company expand their business globally, let’s keep our fingers crossed that Malaysia is on his list; Xiaomi definitely does make some pretty good device and it’s a pity how it doesn’t ship outside its home country.
