Together with the Alcatel One Touch Hero announcement, Alcatel also took the curtains off a new 4.7” smartphone – the Idol Alfa, which will be showcased at the upcoming IFA 2013 scheduled to start this Friday, 6 September 2013. The specs is pretty mediocre, it features a 4.7” IPS LCD display (1280 x 720) with a 1.2GHz quad-core processor under its hood. Other specs include 1GB of RAM, 16GB of non-expandable internal storage, a 13.1MP rear camera capable of shooting 1080p videos, 1.3MP front camera, and 2,000mAh battery on board.
What makes this device interesting is its design that mixes metal case, curves and translucent edges for something a little different from all the same things we’ve been seeing everyday. The translucent edge can illuminate in various modes such as charging, video, and other notifications. Coupled with a 7.5mm slim body, the 4.7” edge-to-edge screen will deliver an “extraordinary floating lens idea”.
No release date or pricing have been released, but knowing Alcatel, it should be within the affordable range, hopefully as competitive as the Alcatel One Touch Idol X that has just been launched in Malaysia earlier today.
