From the front, the new Nokia Lumia 1020 looks almost similar to its older brother – the Lumia 920. However, it is actually not hard to see that this device is unlike any other Lumia devices that Nokia have released into the market. Just turn the device around and behold: a huge black circular area on its back which contains the words “41 MEGA PIXEL | PureView ZIESS”.
Hence, it is rather obvious that the main highlight of Nokia Lumia 1020 is its 41-megapixels PureView main camera with xenon flash which conceptually are the combination of the superior imaging capability of 808 PureView together with the optical image stabilization system that the company introduced in Lumia 920. Lumia 1020 is also equipped with 1.2-megapixels F2.4 front-facing wide-angle camera.
Physical-wise, the Lumia 1020 weights at 158 grams with a thickness of 10.4mm which means that it is lighter and thinner than Lumia 920 although Lumia 925 is still the lightest and thinnest of them all. Just like the Lumia 920, the LTE-enabled Lumia 1020 is powered by a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 dual-core processor and comes with built-in 32GB worth of internal storage.
That being said, the Lumia 1020 is equipped with 2GB of RAM which is twice the amount of memory that Nokia Lumia 920 as well as Lumia 925 have. At the same time, the Lumia 1020 was not equipped with any slots for expandable storage although each customers will receive 7GB worth of cloud storage.
Other than that, the Lumia 1020 also features a 4.5-inch 1280×768 AMOLED ClearBlack display with pixels density of 334 ppi which is enhanced by PureMotion HD+ technology and protected by Gorilla 3 Glass. Not to forget, the Lumia 1020 is also built with NFC capability. While the device does support wireless charging, owners need to obtain the optional wireless charging cover in order to use the feature on Lumia 1020.
The Nokia Lumia 1020 will be made available in Malaysia starting from 25 September with a price tag of RM 2499 and bundled with a free black-colored Camera Grip worth RM 299. Stay tuned for our subsequent first look at Lumia 1020’s accessories together with image and video output samples from the device very soon.
Don’t be surprised of the Lumia 909 name on the Lumia 1020 test unit above. Apparently, it was the original name of Lumia 1020.
