It’s only been a couple of days since the new iPhones went on sale in other parts of the world but it looks like Apple has set a new record for the iPhone launch sales. According to Apple, the company sold a whopping 9 million units of both the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C in just over 3 days. In addition to that, Apple also reported that they now have over 200 million iOS 7 users now, making it the fastest software upgrade in history. Both devices are currently available in several countries namely US, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore and UK.
Unfortunately though, Apple did not provide a break down on the number of units sold for each model. For comparison sake, Apple sold over 5 million iPhone 5’s last year but it’s good to note that this time round, they have included China into their initial launch so that definitely contributed to the humongous figure.
“This is our best iPhone launch yet – more than nine million new iPhones sold – a new record for first weekend sales. The demand for the new iPhones has been incredible, and while we’ve sold out our initial supply of iPhone 5S, stores continue to receive new iPhone shipments regularly.” – Tim Cook, CEO of Apple.
