Some member of the team handling the BlackBerry website must have gotten a little too excited, after a dedicated landing page went active ahead of schedule, with the banner of the now-inactive site proudly stating “BBM for Android and iPhone is Here”. Obviously, it isn’t…yet.
The landing page, according to a tip to Engadget, contained links to download the app on Android and iOS, as well as BBM features such as BBM Voice and BBM Video with Screen Share which are actually not yet available on the newly-ported app when it launches sometime next month.
Unfortunately, the link given by the tipster is now no longer active, and now redirects to BlackBerry’s BBM page on its main website. It does, however, look like BlackBerry are well on course for its expected September timeframe for its cross-platform BBM launch, as confirmed by BlackBerry India managing director Sunil Lalvani at the BlackBerry Q5 launch in India back in July. It was also reported that the beta app was released to developers for bug testing earlier this month.
