The new LG Optimus G Pro, which was announced earlier this year at MWC 2013, runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean with some of the most powerful hardware available today: Snapdragon 600 1.7GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 5.5-inch Full HD (440ppi) IPS display manufactured by LG Electronics’ sister company LG Display, 13MP rear and 2.1MP front facing cameras, and 16GB of flash storage with support for 64GB microSD cards, and one of the largest battery packs in its class, at 3140mAh. The back cover, which retains the unique back plate pattern from the Optimus G and Nexus 4 smartphones, is removable too, allowing for the battery pack to be easily exchanged. On top of that, the Optimus G Pro supports wireless charging with any third-party Qi-standard wireless charging docks.

In addition, LG also focuses on adding new software-related enhancements that adds to the user experience. Previous LG Optimus smartphone users will be familiar with the usual software features such as QMemo, QSlide, and QTranslator, LG has updated some of the software as well as introducing new ones, such as Smart Video, Smart Screen, Dual Recording and VR Panorama. Smart Video pauses any video playback when the front camera detects that the user has turned their gaze away from the screen, while Smart Screen prevents the screen from turning off when the user is staring at it. Dual Recording allows users to record videos on both the rear and front facing cameras simultaneously, while VR Panorama enhances the panorama experience by allowing users to stitch panorama pictures horizontally and vertically. Finally, the QRemote app utilizes the built-in IR blaster that allows it to be used as a remote control for TVs, entertainment systems, and even some air conditioners.
The drop-down menu on the Optimus G Pro has been enhanced with plenty of quick toggles for the LG-developed features, such as QMemo and QSlide.
