Nicely timed with the upcoming Mobile Asia Expo 2013, Sony Mobile has scheduled having a press event in Shanghai this week. Naturally, one might expect that the company will be announcing a (or several) new product given the nature of the event. If that is really the case, what sort of products that Sony will unveiled at tomorrow’s event?
So far, most of the rumours out there are strongly pointing to a six incher phablet codenamed “Togari” that is also fondly referred to as the Xperia Z Ultra or Xperia ZU for short. The device is said to feature a 6.44-inch 1920×1080 IPS display that is enhanced with Sony’s Triluminos and X-Reality for Mobile display technologies.
Interestingly, the Xperia ZU’s display is also said be able to support input from stylus and curiously, pencils (shown above). Running on Android 4.2.2, it is said to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset which features a 2.2-GHz quad-core CPU and Adreno 330 GPU. It also comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage.

Other than that, the Xperia ZU is rumoured to also feature 3000mAh battery, 8-megapixels Exmor RS rear camera, 1.3-megapixels (some said 2.2-megapixels) Exmor R front-camera, water-resistant capability and design language that is similar to Xperia Z.
In addition to the much talked about Xperia ZU, the company might also be launching the follow-up to their SmartWatch at the same event tomorrow although this is rather obvious since Sony have been throwing out a number of hints through Twitter. Nevertheless, we are going to leave it at that since it is official only when Sony themselves said so.
We will be there in Shanghai to witness the unveiling ourselves, so make sure to tune in tomorrow to what’s up at the next big launch by Sony Mobile all the way from Mobile Asia Expo 2013.
