Chipmakers Qualcomm has announced a new quad-core Snapdragon 400 chip that integrates a multi-mode 3G/4G LTE radio. Unveiled here at Computex 2013, the new chip is designed to power smart devices for emerging markets preparing for the transition to 3G and 4G LTE.
The new Snapdragon 400 chip has four Cortex-A7 cores running at 1.2GHz, and will also feature support for Dual SIM, Miracast as well as integrated connectivity functionality such as WiFi, Bluetooth, FM and NFC. The QuickCharge 1.0 feature also lets devices with the chip charge up to 40% faster than conventional charging methods.
This new Qualcomm chip should be making its debut later this year, alongside Qualcomm’s latest 7- and 10-inch Reference Design Tablets.
