ASUS had one final product to announce during its press event a few hours ago, and it is one that competes head on with Samsung’s Galaxy Note range of phablets. Interestingly, even the name of the new ASUS phablet seems to suggest so: the ASUS FonePad Note.
Powered by the Intel Atom Z2560 dual-core 1.6GHz processor with 2GB of RAM, the FonePad Note features a giant 6-inch, Full HD Super IPS+ display with a brightness rated at 450 nits. ASUS has also taken a cue from the HTC One and its BoomSound technology, with the FonePad Note sporting dual front-facing stereo speakers enhanced with the ASUS SonicMaster technology.
In addition, just like the Samsung phablet family, the FonePad Note comes with a digitizer stylus together with a selection of software that enhances the stylus experience. The FonePad Note also comes with an 8MP rear camera, but it is as yet not confirmed if it sports a front-facing one. The biggest ommision on this otherwise powerfully-specced phablet is an LTE radio – the FonePad Note maxes out at HSPA+.
Unfortunately, ASUS has not revealed pricing nor expected availability for its first phablet.
