ASUS has also just announced the its new all-in-one desktop PC, amid lofty claims of transforming the living room. The new ASUS VivoPC is a mini PC with easy access to memory and storage bays for quick and painless upgrading of the device. The VivoPC, together with the new ASUS VivoMouse which can also be used as a remote control and touch pad, promises to change living room entertainment.
Article continues after the break.
Essentially, the new VivoPC is a mini PC that can be hooked up or streamed wirelessly to a HDTV in the living room – which is probably why the announcement of the VivoPC was bundled together with those of the new ASUS Router RT-AC68U that boasts the world’s fastest data rate of up to 1.9Gbps, as well as premium WiFi performance with AiRadar enhancements.
In addition, the Taiwanese company also announced the ASUS VivoMouse, which the company boasts as “the world’s first combined mouse and touchpad”. The VivoMouse is rather odd in shape with the large circular touchpad, but this wireless optical mouse looks like it was designed more to be a remote control…which it also is, in line with the VivoPC’s concept as a living room entertainment system. The touchpad not only supports multi-touch gestures, but also can be used with the thumb as a remote control.
As for the VivoPC itself, there’s not much information going around just yet. All we know so far is that the VivoPC is only 56mm tall and has a footprint smaller than a sheet of A4 paper. Inside, there are two internal memory slots, while the hard drive bay supports both 3.5mm and 2.5mm SATA 6Gb/s disks. Also, it has built-in SonicMaster speakers for high-quality audio output, as well as a high-performance WiFi radio for lag-free wireless streaming.
Both the new ASUS VivoPC and VivoMouse will be available sometime in Q3 this year, with pricing to be announced closer to its launch dates. In the meantime, check out the official product images below.
