You might have seen our brief preview of Alcatel One Touch Idol Ultra recently but truth to be told, the slim Android smartphone is just one of several new smartphones that the brand has just released in Malaysia. Meet one of them: the Alcatel One Touch Idol.
Despite sharing the same Idol name, there are quite a number of obvious differences between Idol and Idol Ultra. For example, the Idol has a slightly thicker body at 7.8mm (1.2mm more than the Idol Ultra) and it is also equipped with slightly slower dual-core CPU that runs at 1GHZ. Other than that, it also comes with an IPS display with lower resolution of 540×960 and covered by Dragontrail glass.
The again, the Idol also comes with higher resolution front-facing camera at 2-megapixels and dual-SIM capability. The device is also priced differently than Idol Ultra at RM 999 but nevertheless, there are still a lot of similarities between both devices such as 4.7-inch display size, 16GB internal storage, 1GB RAM, 8-megapixels rear camera and 1820mAh battery.

Another smartphone that the brand has released in Malaysia alongside the two Idol not-so-identical twins is the Alcatel One Touch Star which made its debut at the recent MWC 2013 in Barcelona. Priced at RM 599, it is equipped with 4-inch AMOLED display that supports up to 10 touch points simultaneously and is covered by Corning Glass as well as the oil-repelling oleophobic coating.
Comes together with 4GB of internal storage and 512MB RAM, the smartphone is powered by a Mediatek MT6577 chipset which features a 1GHz dual-core CPU and PowerVR SGX 531 GPU. The device also carries a 5-megapixels rear camera, VGA front-facing camera and 1500mAh battery.
Last but not least in the list is the Alcatel One Touch Glory 2. We already had a quick look at the prototype version of the smartphone earlier this year but in case you need a quick referesher, the Glory 2 is essentially a low-cost Android-based smartphone with dual-SIM support that is priced at RM 349. On top of all these four new smartphones, the brand will also release the Alcatel One Touch Scribe HD later this month.
