Valve, who have been working on a Linux version of the popular Left 4 Dead 2 game, will finally make available a beta version of the Linux port to all owners of the game. In addition, the L4D2 beta will also include the new Extended Mutation System, which is “a vastly improved scripting system” for modders.
Access to the beta is entirely voluntary for all L4D2 owners, and players can connect with other Beta players via dedicated Beta servers. The L4D team also note that the Windows and Mac version of the game will also be updated to the new build, and hence will require testing from players as well.
The L4D2 beta build will appear as a separate download on Steam for current L4D2 owners starting next week. For more information on the new beta builds, head on to the L4D blog here.
