Earlier today, ASUS Malaysia launched the Transformer All-in-One (AiO) PC. Announced back in January at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the Transformer AiO is the world’s first PC cum tablet, and also dual-boots Windows 8 and Android. As if that’s not enough, the Transformer AiO also has two processors.
More about the ASUS Transformer AiO after the break.
The ASUS Transformer AiO merges the power of a Windows 8 PC with the portability of an Android tablet. Of course, an 18.4-inch screen does not exactly scream “highly portable” by any extent, but it is a fair compromise when docked to the PC station. As mentioned earlier, the Transformer AiO is powered by two processors: a 3.4GHz Intel Core i7-3770 processor and an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor. The PC station also houses an NVIDIA GeForce GT730M GPU, 8GB of RAM and a 2TB hard disk, as well as a DVD-RW burner, five USB 3.0 ports (4 USB 3.0), HDMI and LAN ports, and a 3-in-1 card reader.
On the tablet portion itself, there is 32GB of flash storage, a mini USB 2.0 port, card reader, 3.5mm audio jack and a docking port for charging and syncing with the PC station. In addition, the tablet also houses a gyro sensor, a 1MP camera and two 1.5W speakers. Both the tablet and PC station also supports Bluetooth and WiFi, with the PC station supporting dual band frequencies. The battery on the tablet is also good for 5 hours of usage.
The tablet also features a full HD 18.4-inch IPS LED-backlit screen with 10-finger multitouch support, and will run on Android 4.1. Surprisingly, for such a large form factor the tablet weighs 2.4kg, while the PC station weighs 4.1. The tablet also houses a carrying handle and a metallic folding stand for use away from the PC station.
An interesting feature about the Transformer AiO is not just its ability to run both Android and Windows 8, but it is also able to run both OSes simultaneously. Connect a monitor to the PC station via the HDMI port, and the tablet can run Android independently from the station, allowing parents to work on the PC station while their children play with the tablet. On the other hand, the large screen could also benefit older users, where the larger fonts can make reading easier.
The ASUS Transformer AiO is available now at a retail price of RM4999. Every purchase of the Transformer AiO will be bundled with a wireless keyboard and mouse. For more information about ASUS’ latest revolutionary product, head on to its product page here.
