Update: A Samsung Malaysia rep has responded to our queries on the matter. Unfortunately, Samsung Malaysia cannot confirm about the list…yet.
SamMobile has released a list of countries that will receive the different variants of the next flagship Samsung smartphone, the Galaxy S4. As was revealed earlier, the Galaxy S4 will be powered by two different chipsets depending on region: a 1.6Ghz Exynos 5 octa-core processor or a 1.9Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor. The trade-off for the lack of four cores? As GSMarena notes, the Snapdragon variant will have support for global LTE networks, but the Exynos chip will not.
Given Malaysia’s fledgling 4G LTE network, it wouldn’t be surprising that Samsung would be shipping the non-LTE variant here when it makes its way here. However, it appears that the Korean giants will be bringing both the I9500 (Exynos variant) and I9505 (Qualcomm variant) to Malaysia, where we are only one of 13 out of the 58 countries in the list to have both variants. In comparison, our LTE-friendly neighbours Singapore will only be getting the I9505, while Indonesia and Thailand will be getting the non-LTE Exynos version.
It must be noted here, however, that this list did not come from Samsung, and thus may not be completely accurate. We have reached out to Samsung Malaysia, and will update the post once we have received a reply.
