As you might heard, the new Acer Liquid C1 smartphone will be launched in Malaysia this week which technically made our market as one of the first early adopters for the device. Powered by the Intel Atom Z2420 system-on-a-chip (SoC) processor that features a 1.2GHz single core HyperThreading-enabled CPU and a 400MHz PowerVR SGX540 GPU, it is said to be priced at under RM 1000.
Ahead of its official launch tomorrow, we managed to have yet another encounter with the mid-range smartphone recently and this time, we managed to run a number of benchmarks on the device. At the same time, we also snapped several pictures using its 8-megapixels rear camera and 0.3-megapixels front-facing camera.
Since this particular unit has been going around as demo unit, there is a possibility that it is a pre-production device and might not reflect the actual performance of the retail version. Nevertheless, we believe the results still can be taken as a rough indicator of the Acer Liquid C1 performance. Click on the Read More link below to check them out.
AnTuTu Benchmark
[L-R] Quadrant and GLBenchmark 2.5
Results from AnTuTu and Quadrant generally showed that the Intel Atom Z2420 processor inside the Acer Liquid C1 is able to fend itself against other devices in the mid-market section and many of the last-generation high end smartphones. However, this particular unit does have some difficulty running the GLBenchmark 2.5 and when we eventually managed to do so after few tries, the result showed that the device is indeed struggling to perform in the benchmark.

[L-R]: Main camera: with flash, main camera: without flash and front-facing.All main camera samples were taken in auto mode at 8-megapixels resolution. Front-facing camera is taken at 0.3-megapixels.
From the samples that we managed to gather during our brief time with the demo unit, the output from the main camera are acceptable with better than average quality as compared to many mid-range smartphones out there. The same thing can’t be said for the device’s front-facing camera though as the output is rather grainy although the color reproduction seems not too shabby.
Well, we hope that we will able to get the opportunity to compare these preliminary results with results from actual retail unit in the near future. For the meantime, do stay tuned for the official release date as well as the pricing for the new Acer Liquid C1 from the device’s launch event tomorrow.
