What a bombshell – just mere minutes after we ushered into 2013, Maxis has announced that their 4G LTE network is now officially available in selected parts of of Klang Valley including Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Damansara Utama, Desa Sri Hartamas, Bandar Puchong Jaya, Bandar Sunway and Cyberjaya. With this, Maxis is technically the first telco to officially launch LTE service to consumers in Malaysia after conducting field trials for the past two years.
Furthermore, several nearby areas such as SS2, Taman Paramount, Section 17 and 19 in Petaling Jaya, Plaza Damansara, Bandar Kinrara and Taman Wawasan in Puchong are also able to enjoy partial coverage. Maxis claimed that customers will be able to enjoy Internet speeds of up to 75Mbps with typical average speeds of 10 to 30Mbps on the Maxis 4G LTE network.
So far, Maxis has yet to reveal if any existing LTE-ready mobile devices in the market such as Asus PadFone 2, Nokia Lumia 920 and Nokia Lumia 820 which supports Malaysia’s 2600MHz LTE spectrum band (sorry, iPhone 5 owners) will be allowed to utilize Maxis LTE network soon but the company has begun to offer new LTE modem under its wireless broadband plan immediately.
