As you read yesterday, the Sony Xperia go is finally available in Malaysia for a decent RM999. A day after, we got a surprise from Sony when a review unit landed on our laps this afternoon. Just a quick recap, the Xperia go is one of the Sony phones to get the whole dust and water protection as well as the wet finger tracking technology we first saw on the Xperia active. You could even say that this phone is the successor to that one, albeit with less focus on the whole active lifestyle angle.

The Xperia go packs a 3.5Inch screen, 5MP camera, 512MB RAM, 8GB on Board Storage and will come in Black, White and Yellow. The black one that we got features a textured matte rear case which is quite interesting and the yellow one which we played with in Singapore was not textured, but was matte as well. Processor wise, the go packs a 1GHz dual-core processor and from our first impressions in Singapore, it was pleasantly surprising for what is was. Is the RM999 price point justified for this phone? Does the waterproofing actually work? Give us a while to test it and we’ll let you know during the full review.
Meanwhile, check out more photos, benchmarks and sample images from the Xperia go camera after the jump!
